Online programs for April - June 2020

Due to the COVID-19 emergency in our community, we are moving all of our events and programs online until further notice.

We think you'll find these online and virtual programs to be helpful to you as pray, learn, and take action for Earth.

Livestream Interviews (every Tuesday through June)
Every Tuesday between now and the end of June, a special guest will join us online for a livestream interview. All you have to do is jump on VEJ's Facebook or YouTube pages to watch the interviews live (or you will be able to watch recordings later).

Here is our lineup so far:

  • May 12: Lindsay Pielack, Keep Growing Detroit. Lindsay will talk about the critical importance of gardening as a response to the food and health crises brought on Detroit by COVID-19.
  • May 19: Brian Peterson-Roest, Bees in the D. Brian will talk about the new beehives coming to VEJ's Hope House & Gardens and how crucial pollinators are to Detroit's COVID-19 recovery.

Giving Tuesday (May 5, 2020)
Every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people all over the world give to their favorite causes and mission organizations. Last year (2019), Giving Tuesday raised $1.9 billion worldwide. In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, organizers are calling for a special Giving Tuesday on May 5, 2020.

VEJ will use this special Giving Tuesday to ask our friends to support our efforts to grow a bumper crop that we will distribute to families in our neighborhood via a partnership with Brightmoor Connection food pantry.

We plan to give just as much on Giving Tuesday as we ask of our friends. We are giving away all produce from our beehives and gardens in 2020 to local families in need. We will also be giving you some special online programs throughout the day. We think you'll enjoy hearing from several special guests that we'll feature on our Facebook and YouTube channels.

More information to come in the next few days.
