Dear Friend,

The board, staff, and dedicated volunteers of Voices for Earth Justice (VEJ) would like to invite you into a spirit of reflection, gratitude, and giving. At this juncture in our world, we are witnessing tremendous political strife and deterioration of our social fabric and ecological systems. Nonetheless, across the world these negative forces are met with love as people respond with courage.

VEJ plays our part as we strive to connect people of all walks of life to one another and to Creation, through gardening and learning about nature. Our mission is fulfilled at Hope House, where we host activities as diverse in programs as the people who attend them. In 2016, we hosted over 250 children, college students, and adults who participated in an array of activities ranging from urban agriculture to anti-racism discussions. We’ve taught teenagers how to harvest food and prepare delicious meals with fresh produce. We challenged visitors to think critically about how our lives reinforce systems of oppression and explore what actions we can make to heal the planet and ourselves. Away from Hope House, we engaged over 800 youth and adults at schools, churches, parks, and retreat centers. We aspire to remind participants that we all have a role to play in healing and addressing injustice.

As we close out the year, we cordially invite you to our last community event for the year:

Winter Solstice Prayer Vigil
-Brightmoor Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 12065 W Outer Dr., Detroit, MI 48223
-Sunday, December 18th, 3:00-5:00pm

Your financial support is critical in furthering our mission in 2017. As a small non-profit, our funding comes from donors and small grants, and every contribution from people who support us goes a long way in enabling us to continue to build relationships with our community as we walk in reverence with creation. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and make a donation to VEJ this season. Click the link below to donate on line, or you can send checks and gift cards to our office at 21695 Rougewood Dr., Southfield, MI 48033.

Thank you!!!
